Use the 20-20-20 rule

Every 20 min take a 20 sec break and look at something 20 metres away.
This can be achieved by:
Encouraging older children to take regular breaks and
Using timers for younger children.
Use the “Elbow” rule

Any digital devices should be held no closer than an elbow’s distance away from the eyes.
Consider lighting

Ensure good lighting when children are using screens.
Dim or poor lighting can cause more pressure on their visual system which can lead to eye strain.
Encourage outdoor time

Balance age-appropriate screen time with physical activity and outdoor time.
Outdoor time has also been found to lower the risk of the development and progression of myopia (short-sightedness) in children.
